“Speakers with different expertise and from all over the world gathered together to share innovative approaches to development challenges : what is the rôle of international organizations in promoting global well-being ? What about global governance and participative democracy ? How to cope equally with environment, development and sustainability issues ? What are the tools required to achieve social peace and social happiness within a given legal framework ?

Advocates specialized in development issues or criminal law, philosophers, researchers on the evolution on international organizations, social workers, members of Human rights League discussed together and over all, listened to each other, in order to create cross knowledge.

This year’s seminar also involved trainee advocates from EFACS, the leading french training school for advocates, who had worked on interdisciplinary research projects combining law and happiness. It gathered nearly 200 participants, who took the opportunity to discuss and exchange their view with experts. All these debates will be made publicly available on OIB web site.

More than ever, OIB is convinced that sound legal institutions and the rule of law are the cornerstones of social progress and happiness. New legal tools have to be provided in order to ensure justice and equity in development projects, may it be for the protection of the environment or to achieve participative democracy.

All works achieved with OIB are aimed to be shared without hindrance and the contributions made by participants during these two days will be made available online, as possible.”
